Today I want to take this opportunity to delve into something that often gets overlooked in our hustle and bustle lives—simplicity. Yes, I said it—simplicity, especially when it comes to the love and care we bestow upon our little ones.
A Beautiful Bubble of Simplicity
Think about a baby growing in the womb. It’s a bubble of pure, beautiful simplicity. Rocked gently from side to side, bathed in the perfect temperature, and serenaded by the comforting sounds of their parent’s heartbeat. It’s the ultimate love bubble, where everything the baby needs is provided. This simplicity is where babies grow and flourish.
But as we mature and society’s expectations creep in, we often complicate our lives. We start doing more, achieving more, and sadly, missing out on the simple moments. My journey into teaching baby massage was fueled by my own experiences as a mother to three children within 3.5 years. This journey not only saved my sanity but also deepened the bond with my children—a bond that persists to this day, 21 years later. And it all boils down to the practice of nurturing touch and the values of love, connection, and presence that have always resonated deeply with me.
The Pitfall of Overstimulation
I’ve seen some baby classes filled with bright lights, loud noises, and all sorts of distractions. While it might look fun, the truth is that this overstimulation can be a bit too much for a baby’s developing nervous system. We have to ask ourselves, “What kind of world are we creating for these new souls?”
