5 Ways to Overcome Mum Guilt

We all know mum guilt well—but what if we could turn it into something useful?

Here are five simple ways , that in my experience of having 3 kids under 4 – might help you try to tackle mum guilt and find more joy in motherhood.

Celebrate the Little Wins:

Each day, be sure to celebrate the small stuff. Did you get the kids dressed? Did you manage a cup of tea in peace? Did you get outside for a moment of fresh air? Those are wins! Recognising these can really help reduce feelings of guilt.

Own Your Feelings:

Feelings come from our thoughts, and sometimes we can be our own toughest critics. Remember, you’re doing enough just as you are. You are absolutely enough for your children, and reminding yourself of this can help you move to feeling empowered.

Connect with Love:

At heart, you’re all about love. Spend time outside or with people you care about. This can help melt away the guilt and remind you that you’re connected to something bigger.

Set Loving Boundaries:

Try to plan your day with time for work and time for kids. Knowing what to expect can help everyone feel more settled and less guilty. You can only do a certain amount in each day, so plan a routine that is loving and realistic.

Find Things to Be Grateful For:

Instead of focusing on what’s missing, look at what’s there. From a delicious lunch to a hug from your little one, there’s a lot to be thankful for. Gratitude can really change your outlook.

I hope this blog post is helpful. Mum guilt doesn’t have to be completely negative. With a bit of love and some practical steps, you can transform it into a force for good, helping you to embrace your full potential as a mum and as a person.
